1.Iggy Azalea admits to getting rewerked…..and did a “Fancy” ghost writer just come forward?
In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, everyone’s favorite almost there, but not quite rapper, Iggy Azalea, admitted to getting breast implants. When the magazine asked Azalea what she would she would change with her body, she said (while eating french fries), “I did change something:four months ago, I got bigger boobs! I’d thought about it my entire life!” #Iknewit
In other Iggy news, during a interview on Shade 45’s (great name) “Sway in the Morning,” rapper Skeme claims he played a role in writing Iggy’s smash hit “Fancy.” After being asked if he had a pen in Iggy’s smash, he answered in a music hade-y like manor, “Maybe,” and “We put trust funds up for that song. So, shout out that song.” As far as the hook? All Charli XCX. “That’s the part I didn’t have anything to do with.” For more on this story go here…and to find out when THAT long-awaited Britney/Iggy collabo is finally coming out…go here. (First summer smash?)
2.Your 2015 Lollapalooza lineup is…..
Hot off the music press, the lineup for the 2015 Lollapalooza festival (yes, it’s still happens) was announced…and music Sir Paul McCartney will be marking his first appearance at the annual fiesta de musica. McCartney will headline Friday night with rock pioneers Metallica headlining the Saturday night festivities. Also among the 130(!) acts set to perform are Sam Smith, Alabama Shakes, Florence + The Machine and The Weeknd. Lollapalooza creator Perry Farell told the Associated Press, “young talented artists will be performing alongside legends.” The festival will take place the weekend of July 31st through Aug 2nd at Chicago’s Grant Park, and if you want to go, check this out. Hurry up though, because tickets are selling out like music hotcakes!
3. Karmin has a new video out….yes, Karmin…..
Fresh from “Forgot About Friday” land, cheeky pop duo Karmin have just released a new song, “Along The Road,” as well as its accompanying video. The fun track is a more subdued departure from their more uptempo hits, “Brokenhearted” and “I Want It All,” but it’s still quite fun with its sittin’-around-the-music-campfire, folky vibe. Their new set, ‘Leo Rising’ is set to hit headphones later this year. Check out the chill video below…
4. Paul Oakenfold spills tea with Billboard about DJing being a ‘forgotten art’
In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, legendary UK DJ Paul Oakenfold not only reflected on his record label, Perfecto Records, celebrating its 25th anniversary, but he also dished on how much the music industry is really just living that social media life and how much of the big changes in the music industry are because of greater social behavioral trends. Oakenfold says, “I think the album is much more disposable, as is the single, but that’s society now. Everything’s disposable and we all seem to want the next thing rather than enjoying the moment and saying things are good.” Nothing like a big ol’ helping of music truth for your hump day. 5.Brandy set for Broadway debut in ‘Chicago’
Be still our Moesha hearts! It was just announced that “The Boy Is Mine” other half Brandy is set to make her debut in ‘Chicago.” The Grammy winner will slip into the fabulous heels of housewife-turned-murderer-turned-showgal, Roxie Hart, for an eight-week limited run at the Ambassador Theatre beginning April 28th and through June 21st. Are you ready for Ms. Norwood on Broadway? This Brandy news also proves that I’ll find any excuse to play this diva-vicious remix of her ’94 smash, “I Wanna Be Down.” Hey, nothing wrong with that…
