Kickstarter Groove of the Day/Max-A-Million/”Fat Boy”

Since it’s “Throwback Thursday,” a little trip down prom memory lane is absolutely in order. Now, there are many things I remember about my high school proms–the tuxes, the limos, the afterparties–but, if there’s one thing I remember quite fondly, it was certainly the music. Us ’90s kids had all the great music goodies to get down to-Spice Girls, “Macarena,” and of course, “Cotton Eyed Joe.” (How can ever forget?!) Another tantalizing track that I remember shakin’ my prom groove thing to like it was yesterday is the classic ditty, “Fat Boy” by dance pop trio, Max-A-Million.

For those that may not know, Max-A-Million hailed from Chicago, and brought with them a unique, funky sound that was a mixture of pop, reggae and fun! While “Fat Boy” was their biggest charting original single, the group also fared well with their sizzling remakes of S.O.S. Band’s “Take Your Time,” and the classic baby makin’ groove, “Sexual Healing,” by the late, great, Marvin Gaye. While any of those rewirings will musically suffice, it’s “Fat Boy” that has the biggest bump, and will absolutely kickstart you right into the weekend. So, who’s ready to get down with “Fat Boy?” Everyone……
