Deep House Groove of the Day/Duke Dumont/Jax Jones/”I Got U”

By Patrick DeMarco

Happy Monday, everybody! Are you guys ready to get lost in another great Philly Mixtape week? This week, all the music stops will be pulled, including having dance parties with the lovely Taylor Dayne AND legendary DJ Armand Van Helden. If that’s not enough heat for you already, this week’s “Forgot About Friday” will make you feel oh, soooo good. Any guesses on just who it may be? Stay tuned…

Okay, let’s talk some deep house for a music moment, Last week, Mixtape served up ‘5 reasons Why You Should Be All Up in Deep House Music,’ and since the music featured was just so unforgettably tasty, we decided to keep the grooves flowing by dedicating your daily music life grooves to the (vastly underrated) genre. One of the reasons we mentioned why deep house music is really just everything, is that within, the genre has the music power that is tailor made to fit any kind of personal mood-happy, sad, anxious, Ariana Grande-deep house simply delivers, while being loaded with sexy synths, bedroom beats and sugary grooves that will just take you there………………..and beyond.

Kicking off deep house week is a mellow flow called, “I Got U,” by UK DJ, Duke Dumont. Laced on this light, frothy number is a steel drum set beat, booming piano and just the right taste of the dearly departed Whitney’s classic ’98 hit, “My Love is Your Love.” It also whirls along with a light summer breeze like flow, which is perfect for this rainy “ugh” Monday we’re all dealing with today. While this will be (one) of your lighter deep house melodies that Philly Mixtape will be serving up this week, it will sill hit that coveted music “G” spot. As the week cruises along, however, the deep house grooves will get harder and um, deeper as we get ready to musically treat you guys to delicious deep dish pieces from Miguel Migs, Matvey Emerson, and you will also be hearing from Mr. Dumont again for the close of your week…

Before you guys get lost in all of THIS, you may have noticed that the word “kickstarter” is gone from the title. What it comes down to is this-it’s not a certified groove if it doesn’t kickstart your life, right? That’s all.

And now, we get our 4/20 dance party on, courtesy of Mr. Dumont.
