20 Philly Events Worth Your Entertainment While This Week & Beyond

Let’s talk about this upcoming week in Philly entertainment…..

Paul McCartney, Guns ‘N Roses, Martha Graham Cracker, Bob Dylan, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas….and Azealia Banks.

Also, we are just three days from Philly Mixtape and Pennsylvania 6 linking up for Werk 4 Orlando, and it’s shaping up to be one incredible happy hour lovefest that you don’t want to miss out on, along with these nineteen other events that are certainly worth every bit of your Philly entertainment pleasure and are taking over your week right about…

Philly4Pulse In just over two weeks, every single one of your favorite rainbow rockin’ hot spots in the gayborhood (and waaay beyond) will be joining forces for PHILLY4PULSE, a soon-to-be historic fundraiser that will be constructed as a one night only massive event for the victims and families of the tragic shooting that took place at Pulse Nightclub a month ago tomorrow.

Kicking things off at 7 pm, you’ll be able to find guest bartenders from City and State government offices in and around the Skittles-hued hood, including Rue Landau, Councilman Squilla, Councilwoman Gym, Congressman Brady, Captain Jack Ryan of the 6th District, Senator Farnese, and Officers from GOAL. In was also recently spilled that Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Pennsylvania State Representative Brian Sims and Philadelphia’s Director of LGBT Affairs Nellie Fitzpatrick will also lend their prowess in this incredible event that will certainly be one to remember.

But let’s talk about the tremendous entertainment that’s about to put on a show that will make us never forget our 49 brothers and sisters we lost in Orlando last month. While there’s still many, many details yet to be revealed, it’s confirmed that Mimi Imfurst will be taking over the Voyeur stage with a dazzling drag show, Valanni’s Noel Zayas and Madison Kennedy Matthews will be fabulously hosting ArtPop4Pulse, Woody’s will be serving up a Latin flavored dance party and Franky Bradley’s stunning drag troupe Franky’s Foxes will be whipping up something in their fierce foxhole for your love-filled evening and then some.

Another fabulous thing you should look out for will be details on how to grab a $10 VIP ticket (word on the street is that they will be available at every bar that’s participating), which will grant guests access to all performance venues and dance parties throughout the evening. All funds raised for the event are expected to go to Equailty Florida, which you can learn much more about right here.

For much, much, more on this truly one-of-a-kind event, get your rainbow on right here and stay tuned for much more Philly4Pulse tea to be spilled over the next week-and-a-half. This will be one gathering that you and your fabulous drag mother will want to be a part of.

Sister Act:The Musical/Walnut Street Theatre/Tonight through July 17th Only three more days until Sister Mary Clarence sashays into another city, so if you want those tickets you better go right here, right now.

(Go right here for the incredible cast list). And it’s all for a good cause as donations from the door and 100% of the tips will be going towards funding Equality Florida, an incredible organization that’s been making great strides in supporting the families of the victims from last month’s deadly shooting at Pulse Nightclub.

Paul McCartney/Citizens Bank Park/Tuesday Yes, that Paul McCartney. Hello, Sir. Philly has missed you.

Bob Dylan/Mann Music Center/Wednesday Yes, that Bob Dylan.

Werk 4 Orlando/Thursday  In just three days, Pennsylvania 6 and Philly Mixtape will be joining love-filled forces up to bring you an incredible happy hour fundraiser called Werk 4 Orlando, with proceeds going to help those affected by the senseless tragedy at Pulse Nightclub, which shook all of our worlds a month ago tomorrow.

A suggested $10 donation at the door (or any donation your generous heart desires) will also give you a lovely ticket to win a fabulous gift basket provided by Philadelphia Distilling, who are joining us as sponsors for the love-filled evening. There will also be close to two dozen items featured in a truly spectacular silent auction (stay tuned this week for the official list!), in which all proceeds will be going towards funding both Planting Peace and The Center Orlando, two incredible charities who are making great love waves in making sure the victims families of this senseless tragedy are not just taken care of, but making sure we never, ever forget the names of the 49 lives we lost on June 12th, 2016.

Also along for the love rollercoaster ride is an incredible cast of extraordinary local entertainers including DJ Chris Urban, local singer Jo Stones and local songstresses Lisa Parks and Chali, who will be introduced to the stage by red-hot NYC drag diva Pissi Myles, who I personally know is more than ready to help us continue the message that love, love and more love always wins over that pesky hate…always. It’s a message that we need to keep getting out there…so let’s do it.

On behalf of Philly Mixtape and Pennsylvania 6, we can’t wait to see everyone there! And for much, much more on this event and other ways you can show your true werk for Orlando, smooch it up right here.

The Eric Jaffe Show Two Year Anniversary Extravaganza/Friday/Tavern on Camac It’s hard to believe that it’s already been two years since Mr. Jaffe and his ukulele (and all that purple glitter!) took over our lives, so you can imagine that this month’s (no cover!) show is going to be extra special as sassy and sexy Philly talents Cory Wade, Lili St. Queer, Marykate McMullen, S.M. Luke, Katie Mae and Rachel Rocks all come along for the celebratory ride.

Guns ‘N Roses/Lincoln Financial Field/Thursday. Aqua Net? Check. Ripped-to-shreds Jordache Jeans? Double check. Red bandana? Triple check. Trademark GNR tattoo? Since ’87. Extra lighter in case the first runs out during “Patience?” There it is.

Demi Lovato & Nick Jonas/BB & T Pavilion/Thursday  When former Disney darlings collide… get a show that will most likely contain the most tween-age girls you’ll hear shrieking at a Philly concert this summer...because they’re like, so cool.

5 Seconds of Summer/BB&T Pavilion/Friday Remember that statement above about all those shrieking tween-age girls? Well, they’ll certainly be at this show, too.

Ghostbusters/Friday The reviews are in and the Paul Feig (The Heat, Spy, Bridesmaids) helmed reboot is looking to be….quite good. Meaning, you should stop the shade and thinking you’re childhood’s ruined and go show your love for Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and of course, Chris Hemsworth. Sigh…

DJ Chris Urban at L’Etage/Every Saturday Night Live your summer dance floor life by getting rightfully owned by the grooves of one of Philly’s hottest DJs.

Golden Girls Quizzo/Pennsylvania 6/Sunday Grab your girls and get ready to pop some $15 champagne bottles and head to Penn 6 to see how well you’ve kept up with Rose, Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia over the years. What’s even better is that the fabulous Aloe Vera herself will be all decked out in her Deveroux digs, which is all the more reason to show your cheesecake love this weekend.

Azaliea Banks/Sunday/The Foundry. Yes, that Azaelia Banks.

The Golden Gurlz/August/Tabu Lounge & Sports Bar With a cast that includes Drag Mafia HBIC Brittany Lynn and acting diva duo in fabulousness Pissi Myles and Bella Cane, we’re going to need all the time in the world to prepare ourselves for whatever is about to be unleashed in the gayborhood (“It will haunt you day and night,” as they say in the Ghostbusters trailer) with this show next month. And remember….always be a Dorothy in the streets and a Blanche in the sheets.

Listen to Music/Forever & Always Because…life.
