Weekend Entertainment Groove

From the opening weekend of the Philadelphia Auto Show to the Grammy Awards from DMX at the TLA to a double dose of Umphrey’s McGee at The Fillmore to the……well, you get it as there are lots of pleasant distractions on the way this weekend to (sort of) keep our minds off of next weekend. 

Let’s do it. 

60th Annual Grammy Awards  While we simply can’t wait to see just how many trophies Bruno Mars and Jay Z will walk away with from their respective albums 24K Magic and 4:44 and of course, all of those sure-to-be standout performances from Lady Gaga, P!nk, Patti Lupone, U2, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Sam Smith among many, many others. But the one thing everyone is most stoked about is that the show in returning to New York City for the first time in fifteen years with a live music serving fresh from Madison Square Garden. Throw in the fact that it’s the 60th annual Grammy gala meaning that’s sure to be an evening full of entertainment magic we’ll all spilling tea about come Monday morning. Sunday/8 pm/CBS

The Humans The critically acclaimed story about a man named Erik Blake whose world–and family–begins to crumble after a weary sleepless night, The Humans have just begun taking over the Walnut Street Theatre for an eight week run that’s guaranteed to be nothing short of spectacular. Hailed by critics as “hilarious and unforgettable,” the show also bagged up twenty (!!) 2016 Best Play Awards, with one including a nice-and-shiny Tony Award. Umphrey’s McGee w/ special guest Nicole Atkins Because ain’t no music party like an Umphrey’s McGee music party all weekend long said anyone who’s been to their shows..ever. Get those tickets and get ready to turn the volume all the way up because if there’s any music artist who can hype us up even more in time for next weekend, it’s certainly these guys right here. With fun, whirling numbers along the way like  “Cupcake Tuesday,” and “Brushing your Teeth,” it’s guaranteed to give you (meaning you, so go and get those tickets) a whimsical experience for your weekend that you’ll never forget.
