Grammy Performance of the Day/Lady Gaga/”Born This Way”

We all know how it goes…..

……….there’s Grammy performances and then there’s Lady Gaga Grammy performances, which have more than proven over her now decade long career (yes The Fame is turning 10 this year and yes, you’re that old) to be some of the most fascinatingly bizarre and weirdly fabulous spectacles that we’ve ever witnessed in our entire pearl clutching lives.

That statement certainly resides true in the future Las Vegas owning diva’s 2010 Grammy performance of “Born This Way” because you know…..the egg.

While Ms. Germanotta’s performance of her still oh, so relevant anthem was absolutely Gaga-centric in all ways possible, it was her arrival on the red carpet straight from the supermarket that was just too far out-of-this-world (or should we say-out-of-this-chicken?)  for anyone to take seriously.

And if you did, you’re only kidding yourself because if Ryan Seacrest couldn’t, there’s no way you–or anyone–did for that matter.

While we may never know if Gaga was truly incubating in that thing for three days (she spilled with Billboard that she really was..but where did she…oh, never mind, by the way, like, where is it??), we’re so lucky she’s toned down her bat-shit crazy ways as evident in her recent block buster Grammy nominated album, Joanne, which has certainly worked in all of the right ways….unlike that fucking egg.

See you on the Grammy main stage this Sunday, gurl.

Pride Groove of the Day/Lady Gaga/”Born This Way”

“It doesn’t matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up ’cause you were born this way, baby

My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

“There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are”
She said, “‘Cause he made you perfect, babe”
“So hold your head up girl and you’ll go far,
Listen to me when I say”

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way (Born this way)

Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Right track baby I was born this way

Don’t be a drag, just be a queen
Don’t be a drag, just be a queen
Don’t be a drag, just be a queen
Don’t be don’t be don’t be

Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
So we can rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (hey hey hey)
I love my life I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe, yah

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Right track, baby I was born this way

Don’t be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you’re broke or evergreen
You’re black, white, beige, chola descent
You’re Lebanese, you’re Orient
Whether life’s disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
‘Cause baby you were born this way

No matter gay, straight, or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I’m on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I’m on the right track baby
I was born to be brave

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way yeah

Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way (Born this way)
Oh there ain’t no other way
Baby I was born this way
Right track, baby I was born this way

I was born this way hey
I was born this way hey
I’m on the right track baby
I was born this way hey

I was born this way hey
I was born this way hey
I’m on the right track baby
I was born this way hey

Same D.N.A. but born this way
Same D.N.A. but born this way”

Get the point? Good. Let’s dance.

Grammy Performance of the Day/Lady Gaga/Elton John/”Your Song”/”Speechless”

If anyone on this post Super Bowl Monday has a touch of a headache today, it’s not because you hit the wings and the drinks a bit too hard last night. And it’s also not because you still can’t figure out how the Atlanta Falcons completely blew their massive first half lead to let the New England Patriots come back and completely steal in the second half. (in overtime, none the less, a first for the Super Bowl).

No, you’re feeling it today because Lady Gaga came in and completely snatched the wigs of all of us with her pulsating and patriotic half time performance that will go down as one of–if not the–best ever.  Throw in the announcement of her Joanne World Tour and there’s truly no better music artist to kick off (all football puns intended, of course) Philly Mixtape’s Grammy week than Ms. Germanotta.

So, to get this Grammy party started off right, take a fun Monday reminisce sesh all the way back to 2010 when Gaga hit the awards stage for the very first time with a little help from Sir Elton John. While indeed, it’s a bit weird and frenzied in the beginning with her rendition of ‘Poker Face,” but once the two megastars joined forces for a powerful “Your Song”/”Speechless” medley, well, you’ll see that there’s truly ain’t no other way to say that Ms. Lady Gaga deserved her Super Bowl slay and everything that comes her way from here on out.

Get your rhyme on and take a peak.
