Hump Day Music Truth

1.This performance of Adele performing “Million Years Ago” on Today…..

… everything you’re thinking as you’re reading that first sentence.

Go right here to watch, but first watch Adele take on “Hello” with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots using only classroom instruments….priceless.

2.Brace yourself….a Jonas brothers reunion might happen in the near future….

Yes, that’s right, but according to Joe Jonas, ‘Time itself” will keep it from happening anytime soon.

In a recent music tea with Pride Source magazine, one-third of the brothers Jonas spilled, “It’s easy to say we’re done but we both look at each other and go, ‘We obviously get along.’ And who knows – years from now we could be like, ‘All right, let’s make a record.’ It could easily happen.”

These days, Nick Jonas has had us in “Chains” swooning over his music and acting career, and Joe has been on a concert road trek in support of his DNCE music project, which as sold out all across the country. And Kevin is, well, what is Kevin jonas doing these days?

Watch Joe get his “Cake by the Ocean” on with his DNCE mates below.

3.It’s time for your first peek at Carly Rae Jepsen’s as Frenchie in Fox’s Grease:Live…

Fox is getting a pre-holiday jump on promoting its upcoming Grease: Live.

During the airing of last night’s Scream Queens, Fox got a pre-holiday jump on promoting their upcoming Grease: Live by releasing the first promo for the live spectacle.

Starring Broadway alum Aaron Tveit as Danny Zuko, Julianne Hough set as Sandy, Vanessa Hudgens as bad girl Rizzo, and Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchie, Grease Live is all set to air on Sunday, Jan. 31 from 7-10 p.m.

Ms. Jessie J will open the event, which will also feature a new version of Barry Gibb’s classic  “Grease (Is the Word)” that was featured in the opening title sequence of the box office busting 1978 film starring John Travolta and Ms. “Physical” herself, Olivia Newton-John.

All meaning…this should be really something.

Watch the first Grease:Live promo featuring Ms. Jepsen below.

4.Courtney Love doesn’t mind Justin Bieber’s Nirvana T-shirts….

It was just a few days ago when Justin Bieber managed to anger a whole lot of rock fans when he wore a re-cut Nirvana t-shirt from Fear of God (which costs a cool $1,500) on the American Music Awards red carpet.

Now, the Biebs stylist, Karla Welch, has addressed those shade throwing he critics in a stylish spill with Esquire. “Of course he’s a fan of Nirvana,” she told the magazine. “I think it’s so funny that all these people are up in arms. I’m sure Kurt Cobain would be like — I mean I can’t speak for him, obviously — but I don’t think he was so snotty or that he would diss anyone who appreciated his music. I think he understood that is like the antithesis of music appreciation. It’s so funny.”

But despite what those critics say, there’s one person who’s definitely got Bieber’s back-Cobain’s widow, Ms. Courtney Love. The former Hole diva simply sent Bieber her love in a very classy way. Hey, if Ms. Love’s got your back, then it must be all good.

5.Charli XCX really wants to make sure girls rule the world in her new documentary…

While touring in support of her Sucker set, Charli XCX interviewed fellow artists at festival stops along to the way to, according to the “Boom Clap” songstress, “find out what feminism really means and to see if girls are finally ruling the world.” The results of those spillages resulted in a short documentary called, The F Word and Me, with the f-word in this case standing for feminism.

Watch below and see Ms. XCX spill with singers Ryn Weaver, Jack Antonoff, Marina Diamandis and many more. “Female musicians are still in the minority. I think it’s important to stand up and be counted, and there are plenty of other women here who feel the same way,” the singer says.

Work it like Missy, boo.

1.Adele just snatched *NSYNC’s record and became besties with Jennifer Lawrence & Emma Stone at the same time…

It’s official:Adele’s red-hot 25 set has broken the single-week U.S. album sales record, according to Nielsen Music.

After first sales reports exploded yesterday, Adele’s latest soul shattering opus has already sold at least 2,433,000 in pure album sales in slightly more than three (!) days. That out-of-this-music world sum beats the single-week record which was set by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached when it debuted with 2,416,000 in March 2000.

However, with more than three days left in the sales tracking week (as well as the start of the busy holiday shopping season) sales figures for 25 will indeed keep going. Presently, industry forecasters suggest Adele’s now coveted record could finish the week with 2.9 million sold. We can imagine that with these types of numbers, sales for Kleenex have gone up as well..

Meanwhile, there’s THIS picture of Adele hanging out with new besties Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone in NYC….fucking priceless.

2.You won’t be seeing Justin Bieber at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year…

Maybe the Biebs isn’t dried off from his soaking wet performance at this past Sunday’s American Music Awards because Billboard is reporting that the “Sorry” singer canceled a planned Late Show With Stephen Colbert appearance as well as, reportedly, his involvement in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Issuing an apology on Twitter this morning, Bieber tweeted, “My apologies to @colbertlateshow as I won’t be able to make it to nyc tomorrow for the show,” the singer tweeted. “I look forward to making it up to you soon.” (The Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance was also set to tape this evening, according to Entertainment Tonight.)

Tweeting directly to Mr. Colbert, Bieber continued, “@StephenAtHome thank you for the understanding as sometimes life kicks our a– and we need to deal with it. I will see u soon. Thank you.”

3.Ciara just dropped two new singles…..

As an early holiday gift to her “CSquad,” Ciara just dropped not one, but two new singles. The first being “Oh Baby,” a Dr. Luke cooked up number that is laced with remnants of her bedroom ready ’06 smash, “Promise.” The second is “Special Edition,” a slinky turnt up groove that only Ms. CiCi knows how to deliver.

Dive into to both new songs below.

4.Katy Perry just snatched Taylor Swift’s leftovers for her new H&M holiday commercial…

Is Katy Perry the new Fairy Godmother of Christmas?

After hyping us for weeks, Ms. Katy Perry just dropped her highly anticipated holiday campaign for H&M. and it’s just as festively bonkers as we thought it would be. Not only does it come with an irresistible (Duke Dumont produced!) jingle by Perry, but the oh, so cheery clip is filled with gingerbread men, elves, nutcrackers, Christmas trees, dancing teddy bears and one controversial appearance by one of Taylor Swift ‘s guy pals.

Around the O:57 mark, we see a sexy shirtless male model on the hood of a car, and if you think you recognize him, it’s because you do–his name is Sean O’Pry, the hot male model from Swift’s “Blank Space” music video.

That holiday shade certainly is real, isn’t it Ms. Katy?

Check out the mistletoe ready clip below.

5.Motown the Musical is returning to Broadway…..

Get ready to dance in the streets….Motown the Musical is making its grand return to Broadway…

The story of how the groundbreaking record label rose, fell, and then rose again will return to New York starting July 2016 for an 18-week stand, according to Motown Records founder Berry Gordy and producer Kevin McCollum.

McCollum also spilled that the show has gotten stronger since opening on Broadway two years ago and Gordy has been sharpening the story. “It’s a much crisper and shorter and has a real pop to it,” McCollum spilled.

For his part, Gordy said: “We tweaked a lot of stuff and the road show got tighter and tighter. And now it’s coming back to Broadway and we’re very happy about that because that’s where it started. It was raw and they accepted us and loved us, and so we’re so excited to get back to where it started when it was rough.”

When the show premiered at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre in March 2013, it became an instant smash, going on to deliver 700 performances and serving up a consistent box office that would break $1 million a week. For this upcoming trek, the show will be at the Nederlander Theatre, a smaller venue but one McCollum feels is a “better fit.”

The story begins and ends in 1983 – Motown’s 25th anniversary – and travels back in time to show how Mr. Gordy helped start and shape the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and many, many, many more living and dearly departed music legends.

Introduced by presenter Jared Leto as “one of the world’s greatest voices,” at last night’s AMA’s Ms. Dion certainly proved that far when took the stage and sang Edith Piaf’s “Hymne a L’Amour” (“Ode to Love”) in French while images of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and other Parisian landmarks played in the background behind the living legend.

3.President Obama is set to appear on Coldplay’s new album….

With a number of A-list guests that  already includes Beyoncé, Blue Ivy(!), and Gwenyth Paltrow, Coldplay’s upcoming A Head Full of Dreams record is already looking like a promising music affair. But now front man Chris Martin just announced a guest that pretty much one ups every special guest on any album ever:President Barack Obama.

Spilling to UK”s The Sun, Martin spilled that Obama will be featured on the title track, however, Mr. President didn’t exactly join the British band in the studio. Instead, the album will feature a snippet of Obama’s brief “Amazing Grace” performance, which took place during his eulogy for Reverend Clementa C. Pickney, one of the victims of the tragic Charleston church shooting, earlier this year.

“We have a tiny clip of the president singing ‘Amazing Grace’ at that church,” spilled Martin. “Because of the historical significance of what he did and also that song being about, ‘I’m lost but now I’m found’.”

Meanwhile, at last night’s AMAs, Coldplay performed at the annual ceremony for the first time in seven years. Putting a trippy spin on Dreams disco tinged lead single, “Adventure of a Lifetime,” the group was backed by colorful, swirling graphics (and dancers in gorilla costumes!), creating a performance that if you missed it last night, it will certainly make your Monday.

4.Harry Styles needs to fire his stylist…..

5.Alanis Morisette and Demi Lovao are a match made in angst-y heaven…

Keeping on with her Jagged Little comeback, the legendary Alanis Morissette took the AMAs stage last night with a very special guest-“Cool for the Summer” diva, Demi Lovato.

Lovato’s collaboration with Morissette was her second performance of the night; the former Camp Rock star had previously belted out her current single, “Confident,” maintaining her angst-y attitude as she and Alanis strutted across the AMA stage while belting out Ms. Morissette’s trademark tune, “You Oughta Know.”

And much to our delight, the “Hand In My Pocket” scribe has been everywhere lately celebrating the the 20th anniversary of her massive debut album, Jagged Little Pill. A few months ago, the rockin’ diva served us with a massive, collector’s edition reissue that contains rare demos and a live recording of a London concert that featured members of Foo Fighters and Jane’s Addiction in her backing band. While promoting the coveted reissue, Morissette has been updating her hit “Ironic” with various late-night hosts, including a now priceless version with James Corden that included references to today’s Tinder and Snapchat obsession

5.Nicki Minaj threw shade like the mighty oak last night towards J.Lo….

Is there anything better than Nicki Minaj style music shade?

At the precise moment when J-Lo was shaking her ass into Nicki’s own “Anaconda” (during a mucho caliente dance medley of this year’s biggest hits), the rapstress ever so slightly shaded the “Waiting for Tonight” singer.

Because the cameraman gifted us all with this now classic moment where Nicki has just the slightest flicker of disapproval across her face, the time is now to start a petition for a raise.

Watch the shade fueled medley right here

6.Billboard has all of your AMAs truth….

While we could easily spill music tea all day about last night’s AMAs spectacle, Billboard breaks it all down, including their takes on performances by Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, the one-and-only, Leon Bridges, and one sloppy smooch between Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth that no one will ever forget. (Check your AMAs music life right here).

Big winners for the night include One Direction for Artist of the Year (go figure) and also Taylor Swift, who snatched the trophy for Song of the tear for her monstrous smash, “Blank Space.”

And that time last night when Ariana Grande and Celine Dion became new besties? Absolutely f$%king priceless.
