Cher Groove of the Day/”The Beat Goes On”

Just because we celebrated our beloved Cher’s 69th birthday yesterday, doesn’t mean we’re stopping the party just yet. To keep the diva fiesta going, today we’re serving up her 1967 hit, “The Beat Goes On,” co-starring the icon’s dearly departed late ex-husband, Sonny Bono. The cheery tune hit the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and proved that Cher could not only rock it as a singer, but also werk it out with style, as seen in its accompanying iconic video. There’s truly only one word that comes to mind when describing “The Beat Goes On”….timeless.

Mixtape Music News

1.L.A. Reid throws major music shade/truth towards Mariah….by the way, he’s her boss……

Shortly after Mariah Carey returned to the stage of the Billboard Music Awards for the first time in 15 years, her label boss L.A. Reid seemingly threw major shade her way. The music mogul went on to express skepticism about the chart-topping prospects for her new single, “Infinity” in an interview with Billboard this week, stating, “To even be on the radio at this point in her career is a huge accomplishment, because radio doesn’t cater to veteran artists or legends. Radio caters to in-the-moment stars.” But, it wasn’t all shade-y towards the lady, L.A. was quick to point out that Carey is not the only iconic music artist to have trouble bulldozing the charts these days. “Nobody that put out records 25 years ago is going to have a No. 1. Not Paul [McCartney], Stevie [Wonder], Bruce [Springsteen], Mick [Jagger] or Keith [Richards]. Not Prince, not anyone,” he said. So if she can get on the radio, we’ve done damn good. Would we like to have a No. 1? F– yeah, I’m greedy. But it’s not realistic.”

By the way, 25 years ago this week, Ms, Mariah’s debut single, “Vision of Love,” began its summer radio reign, putting MC on the fast track to all things diva-dom……and that’s all music truth.

2.THIS Xtina ‘Master of Impressions’ montage video is ALL you need in your life today……

What do Shakira, Miley Cyrus, Sia, Cher, Lady Gaga and Britney Spesrs all have in common? The Voice diva impersonates them all in this f#$king hilarious video that you just have to watch….it will make your day and then some.

3……and so is THIS ‘Wheel of Impressions’ clip of Jamie Foxx on Fallon…..

As we saw earlier this year when Ms. Christina did her world famous Britney impression playing Wheel of Impressions on Fallon,’this time, Mr.Jamie Foxx took a spin, and absolutely knocked it out of the music park with his dead on impersonations. While it’s an absolute blast to see Electro Man impersonating John Legend singing the Toys R Us, theme song, but when it comes time to do Jennifer Hudson singing “On Top of Spaghetti?” Priceless. Another must watch clip for your hump day.

4.Both The Voice & Dancing with the Stars crowned winners last night…..

Last night, The Voice wrapped up season 8 by crowning sixteen-year-old Sawyer Fredericks the winner. Fredericks, a New York native, was a member of Pharrell Williams’ team. and the win will take him down a new music road, literally, as the young singing buck took home a new car as well as a brand spankin’ new recording contract from Republic Records. All truth here…get to know his name now…because much like previous The Voice winners….we tend to forget them as time goes on…

Meanwhile, this performance of Season 8 contestant Meghan Linsey performing with Kelly Clarkson on her Piece by Piece track “Invincible” will do just fine…

Also in finale news, Dancing with the, um, Stars also crowned a winner last night, as Bruce and Demi’s favorite child, Rumer, took home the coveted mirrorball trophy. While Willis was indeed a fan favorite all season, the crowning achievement came as a surprise to many who thought double amputee Noah Galloway would take it all home. Either way, well done, Rumor (we guess?), and kudos to you, Mr. Galloway, for giving us inspiration while putting on one hell of a show all season long.

5.David Guetta, Afrojack and Nicki Minaj release the summery video for “Hey Mama”

Hot off the summer music video press, David Guetta, Afrojack, Nicki Minaj and Bebe unleashed the clip for their banger, “Hey Mama.” The desert-laced video plays out like a candy-coated Burning Man festival, complete with sexy dancers, festive oasis garb and Ms. Nicki as a….mirage? Something tells Philly Mixtape that Ms. Diva might’ve not been at the actual shoot, stemming from the fact that she is indeed a hologram throughout the fiery clip. But, still it’s a fun video that succeeds in getting us pumped up for all things summer.
