Groove of the Day/Jody Watley/”Sanctuary”(Soulpersona Raregrooves Remix)

Although most of us, scratch that, all of us, have indefinite admiration for Ms. Jody Watley (if you’re not well versed, groove on right here) after she’s provided us with such glorious old school romps like “Looking for a New Love,” “Real Love,” “Some Kind of Lover,” “Friends,” “Don’t You Want Me” and “Everything,” when it comes to her glowing 2016 EP, Paradise, extra love and attention must be paid right now.

Because…life.

A short, sweet set, each track contains more so called life and Ms. Watley werk than the next. Whether it’s on the after hours/bedroom vibes of the title track, the disco shimmer of “Dancer,” “The Dawn” and “Nightlife” or the floor woke feels of “Tonight’s the Night,” Paradise indeed has a little music paradise for everybody.

But if you’re looking to get it all checked today and then some (really, who isn’t?), slip into the slink of the Soulpersona Raregrooves Refire of set closer “Sanctuary” and find out why it’ll just do it to you in Watley ways you’ve only ever dreamed of.

So, take a minute to live, breathe and enjoy the sounds of today’s Philly Mixtape groove of the day as provided by the legendary Jody Watley

You’ll certainly be glad you did.

Rewerk Wednesday/Fedde Le Grand

A very well established Dutch house DJ and producer, Fedde Le Grand is best known for his 2006 club anthem, “Put Your Hands Up,” which was only followed by an even bigger firestorm, the Ida Corr owned romp, “Let Me Think About It.” Mr. Le Grand has also made a name for himself as a frequent headliner at mainstream EDM events like UMF and TomorrowLand, and even more unconventional EDM festivals such as Sensation and Coachella. The DJ has also blasted popular club venues such as Pacha Ibiza, Green Valley, and Marquee LV, as well as home country events like ADE, Amsterdam Music Festival, and the annual DJMag Top 100 DJs Awards, in which Le Grand has held a spot in the upper ranks of the esteemed list for nearly a decade.

Le Grand has also been a key player in giving life to the careers of DJ talents such as Nicky Romero, Deniz Koyu and Danny Avila. Over the past few years, the club crushing DJ has also made it his priority to discover new talents, bringing to light emerging artists like Roul and Doors, John Dish, dBerrie and Jewelz & Sparks. Those artists are also housed on Flamingo Records, a dance music label Le Grand co-owns with his wife Tana along with DJs Funkerman and Raf Jansen. The globally crushing DJ also spins out a weekly radio show called Dark Light Sessions that airs every Friday on satellite radio and features many of the Flamingo releases.

Also on his list of dance floor destruction, Le Grand has also rewerked many, many mainstream music artists including Madonna and her ’08 hit, “Give it 2 Me,” Coldplay’s “Paradise,” Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine,” and the classic Everything But the Girl smash, “Missing.” If that’s not enough fire for you, he’s also wonderfully remixed Michael Jackson’s “Love Never Felt So Good,” which served as the lead single from the dearly departed singer’s 2014 posthumous album, Xscape

Earlier this month, Mr. Le Grand dropped his latest party starter”Give Me Some,” a swift, jazzy number that certainly packs just as much of a punch as any one of his astounding remixes. If you’re not too familiar with this destructive DJ, do yourself a favor and jump right into any one of his polished productions. Your headphones will certainly be glad you did.
